Together with the foundation team at Wright State and a philanthropic partner, Tipping Point developed a communications plan to support the $150 million Rise. Shine. Campaign for Wright State to fulfill the university’s strategic plan. It included three major building projects, including a dedication of the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures.

Situation
Wright State University is a public research institution serving a diverse population in rural Ohio. Together with the foundation team at Wright State and a philanthropic partner, Tipping Point developed a communications plan to support the $150 million Rise. Shine. Campaign for Wright State to fulfill the university’s strategic plan. It included three major building projects, including a dedication of the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures.

Our Work and Results
We developed and executed the plan with the objective of engaging with high-net-worth individuals who had ties to the university, the Dayton business community and alumni, regardless of where they live today. Strategies included mini-campaigns in cities across the U.S., press conferences, media pitches, testimonials, email campaigns, LinkedIn groups, billboards and high-profile ad placements in the Dayton Business Journal, and using TV placements in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton on Face The Nation, the Screen Actors’ Guild awards show, PBS underwriting, Thanksgiving Day parade, and more. The campaign exceeded its goal substantially, reaching $163 million by January 2017.
